Babban Gona (“Great Farm” in Hausa) is a high impact, technology-driven, social enterprise increasing the productivity and profitability of smallholder farmers in Nigeria, and transforming the rural landscape by creating more money for them. The organisation serves networks of smallholder farmers in Nigeria through an innovative model that leverages technology to provide cost-effective, end to end services to the farmer groups under its franchise. These services are provided on credit and are specifically designed to attract youth, providing them with training and development, financial credit, agricultural inputs, and harvest and marketing services which have led to increases in income around 2.5- 3x the national average.
Over the past 8 years of its operations, Babban Gona has scaled to provide 140,000 loans to date to smallholders who have produced over 200,000 MT of grains. www.babbangona.com
