The Managing Director of an agric firm, Babangona, Bukola Marsha, has revealed in Kano that the outfit had invested over N6bn to support local farmers to boost food production. Marsha spoke shortly after a three-day retreat on the Kano Emirate premises. She added that the efforts were aimed at contributing toward the country’s Gross Domestic Product so as to be self-sufficient in food production.
She said: “We are currently operating in five northern states comprising Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Bauchi and Plateau. For now, we are focused on maize and the end goal is to increase, as well as reach-out to a very large number of farmers and to accomplish our target of supporting 1 million farmers in 2025.” Punch
