A total of 55 women and youths from Sabon Gari Federal Constituency in Kaduna State have received training at the National Agricultural Extension Research and Liaison Services (NAERLS), Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, on condiment making and legumes processing.

Alhaji Garba-Datti, the sponsor of the training, said the participants would be trained on condiment making, legumes processing, poultry and fish farming.

The Chief Facilitator of the training, Amina-Lawal Baidu, said the participants would receive extensive practical training on condiments processing such as spices and herbs. She said they would also be trained on processing of legumes such as beans, groundnut and soya beans.

The Assistant Director of NAERLS, Professor Paul Bolorunduro, urged other lawmakers to emulate Garba-Datti by empowering women and youths to reduce the high rates of unemployment and poverty in the nation. He added that the processing of legumes like soyabeans, would open up agricultural opportunities across the state, for farmers and feed processors.

Prof. Paul Bolorunduro urged the participants to take maximum advantage of the training to better their lives and that of their families, stating that the National Agricultural Extension Research and Liaison Services (NAERLS) institute is responsible for development, collation, evaluation and dissemination of proven agricultural innovations and research on extension methodologies and policies.
